Mount Kenya is the second most elevated pinnacle of Africa and the most elevated pinnacle of Kenya. This excellent chilly pinnacle is currently pulling in trekkers from everywhere throughout the world. Mt Kenya is an old torpid fountain of liquid magma, whose have been formed and shaped by glaciations which give an emotional impact to Mt. Kenya.
There are three crests on Mount Kenya Batian (5199m), Nelion (5,188m) and Lenana point (4,985m). While Batian and Nelion tops are for specialized climbers while Lenana Point is the main crest on Mt Kenya, which does not require any specialized trip and can be come to by trekkers effectively.
Thick bamboo and rainforest are found on Mt. Kenya's lower inclines while uncommon Afro-Alpine moorland and vegetation are found at higher heights of the mountain. The entrancing sights of the snow-topped pinnacles, valleys and Savannah make Mount Kenya's trek a completely lovely African experience.
On the trek to Mount Kenya through the woods you can run over the shifted wild of Africa including the elephants, bison, lions, panther, shake hyrax, different eland species and a wide range winged animal species can be spotted.
There three fundamental routes for climbing Mount Kenya in particular, Naromoru, Sirimon and Chogoria. These routes are utilized by trekkers to summit Mt. Kenya at the Lenana point.
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport and after you clear with customs and immigration procedures ,you will be picked up and transferred to La Maison Royale Hotel for overnight on bed and breakfast basis
At 7 am you will be picked up at your hotel of stay and leave Nairobi for Nanyuki town arriving for lunch, taking about 4 hours with stopover at the equator. Proceed to Sirimon Gate, 1 hr., 2440m. From the gate follow the track as it winds uphill through the forest which becomes heath land after about 3½ hours from the gate the track veers right to Old Moses Camp, 3300m for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, follow the track uphill, forking left at the junction. After one hour from Old Moses Camp, the track crosses Ontulili River. Go right contouring through the Moorland and crossing Liki North and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the main peak Dinner and overnight at Shipton Camp, 4200m, B,L,D
Spend the day acclimatizing. Walk to Kami Hut down to Hauseberg Lakes (Hauseberg Tarn and Nanyuki Tarn). Walk back to Shipton for dinner and overnight.
Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving Mount Kenya point Lenana (6km from Shipton Camp) at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down to Mintos hut (6km), 2hrs, for breakfast and 20km, 4-5hrs further down to Mount Meru Bandas, 2950m, for dinner and overnight.
Descend 2hr, 15km to forest clearance to catch your transfer vehicle to Chogoria Village where you will connect with your transfer vehicle back to Nairobi, B,L. Upon arrival you will be dropped off at La Maison Royale Hotel for overnight on bed and breakfast basis.
Breakfast at the hotel with use of room till 1000hrs. You will be picked up and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your onward scheduled flight booked by yourselves to your next destination .
NOTEThe best times to visit Mount Kenya are June to October and December to March. The ground is at its driest from January to March, the ideal months for camping and access to the park gates. At other times of the year, the ground is wetter and occasionally
It is advisable to avoid April to May and November, the long and short rains respectively. You may well experience the odd shower whatever time of year you visit. The mountain has its own micro-climate with convectional rainfall sometimes occurring from late morning to late afternoon.
