This 5-8 day Tanzania safari takes you deep into the wilderness of the most incredible parks in the northern circuit of Tanzania. You will not be rushed as you track down the animals with your guide. We will help you decide how many days you want to spend where according to the time of the year. There are plenty of ways to craft a safari in this time to make each day perfect and leave you beyond satisfied by the end of your trip.

Highlights of 5-8 Day Safari

  • Amazing Views

Whether you see the Lake Manyara escarpment, the Ngorongoro caldera or the endless sea of grass in Serengati, these magnificient views will be imprinted in your mind for life. Along the way you will spot Maasai folk, huge Boabab trees and incredible wildlife.

  • World Famous Parks

You will cover Lake Manyara, Tarangire national parks and/or Ngorongoro crater based on your preferences and suitability for the time of the year. Manyara is famous for its flamingoes and its tree climbing lions. Tarangire is famous for its large herds of Elephants and iconic Boabab trees.

  • Big 5 and More

4 days of game drives almost guarantees you plenty of wildlife, from giraffes, elephants, zebras, lions, buffalos, cheetahs, rhinos, hippos, hyenas and a whole lot of other smaller animals and birds.

  • The Serengeti

The world's most famous wildlife park that hosts the most spectacular migration of the Wildebeest. Only a 4+ day safari makes it logistically possible to reach these grasslands.

  • More Game Drives

With more days at hand you can stay more than a day in one of the national parks. Most people chose 2 days in Serengeti to increase their chances of witnessing the Wildebeest migration.

Is a 5-8 Day Safari for Me?

There's no better way to see the wildebeest migration in action and see the amazing parks that have made Tanzania so famous. 5-8 days allows you to spend a very reasonable amount of time in the Serengeti (2-4 nights). You'll of course also explore Ngorongoro and Manyara or Tarangire National Parks. You can either do the tour by land (circle itinerary) or fly back from the Serengeti to remove the backtracking. The cost of this trip can be lowered by chosing the adventurous budget camping. If you prefer lodges or tented camps, there is plenty of choice of 3 to 5 star accommodations to suit everyone.

The Popote Advantage

We have taken more than 4,000 travelers on Tanzania safari since 2011. The following 4 aspects are the most important for anyone wanting to book a safari. And we guarantee uncompromising quality for all and more.

#1 Safari Experience Matters

We are built on our experience of guiding over 4000 travelers on safaris over a decade. There are hidden challenges to operating safaris that we've uncovered during this time. That gives us a competitive advantage over most other safari operators. How to seamlessly sew together a Kilimanjaro climb with a safari? Or bring down the cost while still staying in excellent lodges? Or arrange a transfer from Nairobi after your flight was delayed? Cross border Tanzania-Kenya safaris? Fly straight from Serengeti to Zanzibar? Our local team will plan your safari with you and ensure all your expectations are met and more.

#2 Comfortable 4x4 Land Cruisers

We only use specially designed and converted 4x4 Toyota Landcruisers. They have large sliding windows and pop-up roofs, offering excellent views and great opportunities for safe and undisturbed photography while on game drives. There is a fridge to keep your drinks cool and 220V electric sockets for battery chargers. The powerful engines allow the vehicles to manage various kinds of terrain without any difficulty even when traveling off the beaten track. There are 5 to 7 seats with handrests offering plenty of room for a comfortable ride.

#3 Unlimited Game Drives

With Popote's private safari trips, you are in charge of how you want game drives from 6am to 6pm each day of your trip. There is no mileage restriction unlike the budget operators. We want your vacation to be perfect and without any bounds. So if you want to track a lioness as it hunts its prey, you have the freedom to go for it!

#4 Lunch Breaks in the Wild

We appreciate that you might want to stretch out and take a break from the dusty and bumpy game drives. So your guide will find a nice and shady spot to spread your lunch table and serve you pre-packed lunch in the wild. If some wine would make it perfect, just let us know! Its just one of those idyllic moments that you will never forget, especially in the Serengeti!

5-8 Day Safari Itineraries

5-8 days of safari is generally preferred by those who want an immersive safari experience in Tanzania. You will cover most of the northern safari circuit depending on what you want to explore, how much distance you want to cover and other parameters. Below are some example itineraries. Contact us for a personalized itinerary, detailed information or if you have any questions.

  • 5-Day Safari

In the below five day Wildebeest Migration safari you'll track the movements of the vast herd while also visiting three of Tanzania's most famous national parks. You'll start in Tarangire National Park before spending three days in the Serengeti National Park following the movements of the Wildebeest Migration. You'll then finish your drive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

    • Day 1 - Arusha to Tarangire (or Lake Manyara)
    • Day 2 - Tarangire to Serengeti
    • Day 3 - Serengeti
    • Day 4 - Serengeti to Ngorongoro
    • Day 5 - Ngorongoro to Arusha

You can chose to fly into Serengeti to be right in the heart of the migration from day 1. In case you want to do all the parks in the entire northern circuit, you will have to spend one night less in Serengeti.

  • 6-Day Safari

The below 6-day trip involves some superb safari areas! You’ll start in off-the-beaten-track Tarangire, before heading to the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti. Great game viewing is guaranteed!

  • 7-Day Safari

As a contrast to the 6-day itinerary, the trip below offers you multiple days in 3 different national parks.

    • Days 1 & 2 - Tarangire
    • Days 3 & 4 - Ngorongoro
    • Days 5 to 7 - Serengeti (fly back to Arusha or Moshi)

The above trip is especially designed for a luxury immersive game viewing especially in off-the-beaten-track Tarangire. If you want to see more parks despite long drive times, then the following is another option:

    • Day 2 - Tarangire to Manyara
    • Day 3 - Manyara to Serengeti
    • Days 4 & 5 - Serengeti
    • Day 6 - Serengeti to Ngorongoro
    • Day 7 - Ngorongoro to Arusha
  • 8-Day Safari

    • Day 2 - Tarangire
    • Day 3 - Lake Manyara
    • Day 4 - Lake Manyara to Serengeti
    • Days 5 & 6 - Serengeti
    • Day 7 - Serengeti to Ngorongoro
    • Day 8 - Ngorongoro to Arusha

We can add flights to or from Serengeti to reduce driving time, and give you more time for game drives or just to enjoy the beautiful lodges / tented camps. Those seeking an off-the-beaten-track experience can add a day or two at Tarangire. Cultural elements such as visits to Maasai village can also be added.
