Kirawira Serena Camp

Kirawira Serena Camp

Kirawira Serena Tented Camp stands high on a hilltop overlooking the plains of the Serengeti's Western Corridor. Every year around June and July, the large herds of wildebeest migrate through this area on the Grumeti River on their migration to the northern Serengeti and the Maasai Mara. Kirawira is in a prime position in this wild landscape, which is also home to plenty of game during the other months.

The camp consists of 25 spacious house tents erected on wooden platforms and elegantly furnished in the style of the early safari pioneers. A spacious terrace with comfortable chairs invites you to linger. Each of the tents has its own individual charm. The historically inspired furnishings can also be found in the dining area. Silver chandeliers, dining bells and white tablecloths are reminiscent of a fine English restaurant. A pool and a well-stocked bar offer refreshment after an exciting day on safari.

There are many other tented camps in Serengeti which offer a better all-round safari experience. However, if clients do wish to come here, this is best booked as part of a Serena Hotel circuit as one gets lower rates.

From Arusha it is a long drive (550km, 8 hours) through the Serengeti National Park. An alternative is to fly from Arusha or another airstrip to Grumeti Airstrip which is a 30-minute drive to the camp.
